Ålesund and Stordal

Winter – Snow, rain, sunshine? (December – February) Temperature minus 15 to plus 10 degrees Celsius. Focus; there is no bad weather, just bad clothes! Winter at the western part of Norway may vary between sunshine, rain, and snow, with temperatures between minus 15° and plus 10° Celsius (5°-15°Fahrenheit). At the coast like Ålesund, normally in the milder scale and colder in the fjords and up in the mountains. During the winter there are not many days with sunshine, and the heat from the sun is limited. But snow and rain can be fascinating if you are wearing the right clothes. Remember dry, warm, and two to three layers! Layer 1: Underwear, long arms, and feet. Layer 2 for the colder days: Intermediate garments, wool or fleece. Layer 3: Outer garments, wind, and water protection. Further information about suitable clothes, shoes, and don’t forget your head, hands, and feet.

Spring – some days snow, but mostly a combination of rain and sunshine.
Late in March to early in May, temperature 0 to plus 10-15 degrees Celsius. Focus; there is no bad weather, just bad clothes! Spring at the western part of Norway may vary between sunshine, rain, and snow, with temperatures between minus 0° and plus 10-15° Celsius (34°-50/60°Fahrenheit). At the coast like Ålesund, normally in the milder part of the scale and colder in the fjords and up in the mountains. During the spring there may be many days with sunshine, and the heat from the sun is increasing. Although rain and occasionally some days snowing will probably occur. The weather itself can be fascinating if you are wearing the right clothes. Remember dry, warm, and two to three layers! Layer 1: Underwear, long or short arms, and feet (depending on the temperature). Layer 2 for the colder days: Intermediate garments, wool or fleece. Layer 3: Outer garments, wind, and water protection. Further information about suitable clothes, shoes, and don’t forget your head, hands, and feet.

Summer – combinations of rain and sunshine (June-August).
Late in May to early in September, temperature varies from 15 to plus 28 degrees Celsius. Remember; there is no bad weather, just bad clothes! Summer at the western part of Norway may vary between sunshine and rain the same day, with temperatures between minus 0° and plus 10-15° Celsius (60°- 85°Fahrenheit). At the coast like Ålesund, normally a bit more windy and warmer in the fjords, except a bit colder further up in the mountains. There may be many days with sunshine, and the heat from the sun is nice. Although rain or more correctly rain showers are a part of this district, due to the Gulf Stream. The weather itself can be fascinating, rain showers in one moment and in the next sunshine from a blue sky. Fascinating, if you are wearing the right clothes. Remember dry, warm, and two layers! Layer 1: Underwear, short arms, and feet. Layer 2: Who knows? Shorts and bikini, or Intermediate garments, wool or fleece. For the rainy days, outer garments, wind, and water protection. But if you are planning tours in the mountains (500-1000 m.a.s.l.) the layer 2 should be available in your backpack. Outer garments, wind, and water protection.

Autumn – combinations of rain and sunshine (September – November). September is often a very beautiful part of the autumn. The temperature may vary from 10 to plus 25 degrees Celsius (50°- 80°Fahrenheit). At the coast like Ålesund, normally a bit more windy and warmer in the fjords protected by the mountains. There may be many days with sunshine, and the heat from the sun is still nice. Although rain or more correctly rain showers are a part of this district, due to the Gulf Stream. The weather itself can be fascinating, rain showers in one moment and in the next sunshine from a blue sky. Fascinating, if you are wearing the right clothes. In October and espessially November is more likely for windy and stormy weather. In this months you may feel the strenght of nature. If you, like the other seasons mentioned, remember dry, warm, and two to three layers, you may expreience fasinating weather conditions!
